Powerful Analyzers for Monitoring Mobile Networks

The analyzer product family features real-time multitechnology call and session tracing, LTE user-plane session and flow analysis, key performance indicator (KPI) generation, quality of service (QoS) measurements as well as objective voice quality analysis – all with drill-down capability to see the fine detail of protocol analysis. CDRs and KPIs can be stored to a database for further statistical processing.

While the Analyzer product family consists of different products for a range of different use cases, each shares a common M5 Analyzer software with optional protocol decoding packages and applications.

Each product can monitor STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12, E1/T1/J1 and Ethernet interfaces in real-time. A range of different probes and adapters are available including the iPro, which can capture 100% of traffic from 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, store it and then allow analysis in order to extract only the most interesting parts of the data.

Market-Leading User Interface Design

The M5 Software features a Windows 7 based GUI designed to maximise ease of use and clarity. The intuitiveness of the user interface, its adjustable views and powerful functions make the Analyzer a very powerful troubleshooting tool.

Multitechnology Support

LTE, UTRAN (HSPA, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA), GERAN (GSM/GPRS/EDGE), CS/PS core, IMS and GAN analysis capabilities, are all combined in one tool. The latest developments in network technology are continually integrated enabling for example testing of Voice over IP and multimedia services. 3GPP Releases are supported from Rel99 up to Rel9 and vendor-specific versions are widely supported.

The M5 software also supports LTE NAS, IPSec, Iub and Gb decipherings. In UTRAN and GERAN, the end-to-end testing can be handled with one tool as the Analyzer can utilise a mobile phone to capture the air interface signalling and then correlate it with signalling from RAN and core network.

Applications

Detailed Protocol Decoding

With the Protocol Monitoring application, transactions can be analysed to the last detail by using different analysis views. Message Sequence Chart enable clear analyses of message flows. The Single Line Decoding view gives a good overall view of the messages by showing event information and protocol content in one line. All signalling data is available in the Detailed Decoding view. Protocol messages are correlated between the views so it is easy to switch analysis to a different view.

Call and Session Analysis

Call & Session Analysis is a key troubleshooting application. The calls can be closely monitored in real-time as they evolve over LTE S1, X2 and EPC, Iub, Iu-CS, Iu-PS, Abis, A, A+, Ater, Gb, Gn, Gs, Gi, ISUP, MAP, CAP, INAP, Mc, Nb over IP, Nc, GAN Up, SIP and Diameter interfaces as well as the air interface in UTRAN/GERAN. With Call & Session Analysis it is possible with a quick glance to see whether there are any problems in the operation. Full details of the call in question are easily available.

LTE User Plane Session and Flow Analysis

The User Plane Analyser is a superior tool for exploring the network traffic in converged IP based networks. You can use it to seek any kind of information from network traffic via versatile snapshots in selected time frame efficiently from MySQL database.

You can analyse individual IP flows with information of source and destination IP addresses, ports, protocols, locations and origins, throughput and amount of transferred data values also in tunnelled flows. Ready charts for top talkers, transmission and application protocols etc. will help user to see what is realy happening in network. Advanced QoS and KPI graphs will include charts and diagrams for traffic distribution and throughput per individual or aggregated flows and sessions.

Statistical Analysis on KPIs and QoS Counters

Network Statistics provide essential information on the overall performance of the network. Transactions are traced from the Iub, Iu-CS, Iu-PS, Abis, A, Gb, MAP and ISUP interfaces and stored to a database. The transaction counters, KPIs, and the distribution of failures by reason are then visualised in graphics. Drilling down from the high-level view in Diagnostics to the last detail in the Protocol Monitor application is fast and easy. With IP QoS application, the Quality of Service level in the network can effectively be determined based on accurate delay, throughput, jitter, packet count and packet loss measurements at all IP-based interfaces.

Voice Quality Analysis

Objective voice quality analysis based on SwissQual’s ITU-T P.563 like NINA+ algorithm for narrow-band speech. Several parameters are included in the analysis and MOS-LQO value gives an instant evaluation on the sound quality.  Also speech of interesting CS calls from Iub, Iu-CS, SIP, Abis, A or Ater interface can be recorded (.wav) or listened directly from PC’s loudspeakers.
